Text String to File Protocol Link Onload

I have a field that contains the folder address for all files associated with the specific opportunity on the server. Is it possible to create a plugin that takes this text and turns it into a direct link to the folder?

I have been trying to implement this feature for a while and haven't been able to find any resources.
