Very odd occurrence going on.
When I backup and restore our production _MSCRM db to a new SQL server, name it differently, then create a new tenant using Import Organization method in the CRM Deployment Manager, the new tenant is successfully created with the businessunitid all matching production (apart from the root businessunitid which is expected to be different).
Problem is, if I repeat the process and, second time restore it with a new name again, the new tenant is created successfully but the businessunitid values for EVERY BU are new.
Why does this work successfully for the first (only the first) restore / re-creation but not for further ones?
Is there some background check by the Deployment Manager to the MSCRM_CONFIG db Organization table?
I have re-produced this behaviour on a number of environments so it is not a server setup or restore/re-build error.
Any insights would be appreciated.
