Delete Subscription - Retain License?

Hi, 

Theoretically if you had a tenant with 2 subscriptions (both 27 licenses) and you were to delete one of the subscriptions is there anyway of transferring 2 licenses from one subscription to another before deletion?

Or would you be required to delete the subscription and re-purchase the two licenses?
