Dynamics CRM Server 2016 Setup - "The current user is not a domain user"

I am a first-time CRM installer and I am running an installation in a restricted environment.

After many atempts, I cannot pass the system checks and the "Active Directory" check is always failing with the same message.

My setup:

The application is being installed on one server, SQL server and reporting services are on a second one.

CRM Server and SQL Server are on the same domain A, installing user U is on domain B.

There is an outgoing trust from domain A to domain B (not transitive).

User U has admin rights on both servers .

User U has read&write permissions to the OU created for CRM (just to this sub-tree, not to the entire AD)

User U is member of Local Administrators on those servers via a special group.

What I tried and did not help:

Adding Firewall exceptions to several TCP & UDP ports mentioned in the docs.

Turning firewall off.

Explicitely adding the user to Local Administrators, not just via a group.

Restarting the installation

Restarting the server

Running the installation "As an Administrator"

Could you please suggest me what else to try?

Is there any other relevant information I am missing?
