Rendering Word Templates via SDK

Hi All,

Has anyone tried generating a Word Template for CRM 2016 through the SDK? I use the reporting service endpoint a lot for On Premise to generate CRM reports and I'd love to replace my clunky SSRS reports with Word or Excel templates, but I need to be able to generate the reports/documents programatically.
