CRM 2013: Exchange Server-Side Synch Error Messages

We have implemented Exchange Server-Side Synchronisation for Outgoing Email and Appointment and Task Synchronisation.

Although the mailboxes have been enabled and passed the internal CRM test, appointments are not being delivered to users Outlook Calendars. When I investigated the matter further I noticed the mailboxes alert section had recorded an error. Unfortunately the messages being captured here is fairly useless and do not give any guidance as to what the problem actually is.

The message logged in the alert section was: "Web.ReceiveFailure"

I then decided to enable the tracing service to monitor the Asynch Services, and captured the following information:

[2015-11-02 17:43:23.779] Process:CrmAsyncService |Organization:1db0c0b6-ceee-418c-afc3-ebe6dc767040 |Thread:  165 |Category: ExchangeSync |User: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 |Level: Error |ReqId:  | ExchangeSyncWorker.SynchronizeACTs  ilOffset = 0x4C

>Exchange sync worker for the mailbox is failed/terminated : {9A692546-0C65-E411-80C3-0050569D09D9}. This log gives a better clue to a problem existing, but still doesn’t identify any error numbers or actual points of failures.

Has anybody detected a similar problem to:

“A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond”

And what ultimately what was the problem?
