Workflow issue

Hi,

I added some option list fields onto opportunity tables. the option set consists of 4 options :

1. Not required
2. required
3. booked
4. completed

I created a new workflow against the opportunity, with the option to start when created and when record fields change, and I ticked my custom fields in the select list.

I then added, for each of these fields, a condition step to check the value, where the field is set to required, a create task step will be executed to create a Task record with specific parameters.

I then, added a second workflow against the Task entity, my aim is to update the custom fields on the opportunity to booked or completed when the corresponding task is completed.

So far, it all worked great, except that, the second workflow updating the opportunity seems trigger the first workflow and causes to duplicate the task entries for fields that are still in required stage.

The answer to this would be to run workflow 1 only for fields changing from not required to required, not sure if this can be done or how to do it though.

another workaround would be a plugin to check for duplicates, i haven't done much research in this are and still have to learn it.

would there be any quicker/better approach to this ?
